Bima is located on the eastern end of Sumbawa Island. You can reach Bima from Makassar by a direct flight to Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin Airport or by a combination of ferry and bus. The flight is significantly faster and more convenient. The ferry route involves traveling from Makassar to the port of Pamatata or similar, then crossing to Sumbawa, which is a long and complex journey. Bima is known for its rugged landscapes and proximity to the Komodo National Park.
